application not redirecting after ember-simple-auth authentication, only in production

I'm using ember-simple-auth-devise to authenticate to a rails app from an ember-cli app. Everything works great locally, but when I try to run on a production environment, the application stalls at a blank page after successful authentication. If I reload, it will then redirect to where the user needs to go.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?
