How does ember.js add data-binding to template tags

How does ember.js bind data to template tags in Handlebars?

I've been able to figure out ways to do binding similar to KnockoutJS and other libraries, but Ember's ability to bind data with template tags baffles me.

I'm sorry I don't have any code to post for this question, because I really have no clue how to implement this, and need some resources to start off in the first place.
