jCarousel not reloading in Ember.js app

I have an Emberjs app that displays a collection of 'activities' in a jCarousel.

I also have a sort menu that sorts these activities based on type, title, etc, using the sortExpression property on my Activity controller.

When I use the sort menu, the collection is sorted correctly, but the scrolling on my jCarousel becomes completely messed up. It starts adding extra slides or scrolling to the wrong slide.

I'm calling

$('.activity-carousel').jcarousel('reload');

when an option is selected from the sort menu, but the jCarousel doesn't seem to reload.

I have also tried calling

$('.activity-carousel').jcarousel('destroy');

which successfully destroys the jCarousel, but then rebuilding the jCarousel doesn't work.

Any ideas?
