Unwanted pop-up effect of rerendered HTML objects

I've made a music-player on my homepage and just added an animation for clicks on the covers in the playlist (right side).

When triggered the cover slides to the very left, replaces the item there. The old current track cover (the left one) replaces the one clicked in the playlist. When that happens Ember rerenders this part of the DOM. The items pop up and there lies my problem. It just looks ugly and I'd like to improve it (get rid of the unwanted effect or make it less obvious).

What can I do about it? I want the whole animation and replacement to looks smooth and natural.

There's one more problem. Hovered covers scale a little. This seems to be off when the cover in the playlist has just been replaced. Any ideas what I could do about that?
